PRIVACY POLICY

We’re here to provide you with tools and services that are designed to help you perform due diligence reports customized to fit your needs. Before you get started, please know that we respect your privacy, and we’d like to tell you more about what we do with information we collect about you.

This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy” or “policy”) covers how inVeritas Research & Consulting, Inc., its service Global i, and its affiliated companies (collectively, “Global i,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, and share information in connection with your access and use of our services. It does not cover the privacy practices of third parties that we do not own or control. If you have objections to this Privacy Policy, then you should not access or use our services. If you are outside the United States, then this policy does not apply.

You should be aware that we may provide third-party content or links to third-party web sites or applications or include features that allow you to connect your Global i account with your accounts with third parties, such as financial institutions or social media platforms. When you leave our services or interact with a third-party feature, you should also read the applicable third party’s privacy policies and terms of service to make sure you understand how they might collect and share information about you.

Why We Collect Data

We collect data in order to effectively provide useful products and services to you and others. We also use this data to improve the quality of those products and services.

The Kind of Data We Collect From You

We collect information such as:

(a) Contact and demographic data. We may collect your first and last name, email address, postal address, phone number, and other similar contact data. We also may collect data about you such as your age, gender, race, or other demographic data.

(b) Account credentials. We collect passwords and similar security information used for authentication and account access.

(c) Usage data. We collect data about how you use our products and services. This includes without limitation data such as the search terms you enter, the pages you visit, the links you hover over and click on, and the items you purchase. We may also collect data about your device(s) such as its IP address, device identifiers, and data about the network, operating system, or software you use to connect to our products and services.

(d) Location data. When you enable location-based features of our products, we may collect location data, such as GPS coordinates. We may also collect location data derived from your IP address.

(e) Payment data. If you make a purchase, we collect data necessary to process your payment, such as your name, credit card number, and security code.

When you are asked to provide personal data, you may decline. But if you choose not to provide data that is necessary to provide a service, you may not be able to use some features or services.

How We Collect Data From You

The data we collect depends on the services and features of our products that you use. You provide some data directly, such as when you create an account, submit a search query, or send us comments, questions, or other feedback. Our servers also automatically collect information known as “log data” “log information,” or “usage data”—this includes the usage data listed above, including without limitation your IP address, the time your computer or device visited the site, the URL of the Web site you arrived from, the type of device or browser you used to access the site, the links you hover over and click on, and other log or usage data. We also get information by recording how you use our services and whether you navigate between our services. We may also request to use location-enabled services on your device (which usually provides GPS or Wi-Fi access point details) to enhance our services.

We also use “cookies” (small text files placed on your device) to track your visit and usage of our site. A cookie functions as one identifying mechanism to enable us to record information to serve you better. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. For some web pages that require an authorization, cookies are not optional. Users choosing not to accept cookies will not be able to access those pages.

Where Else We Collect Data From

We obtain information about users (and non-users) from third-party sources, including without limitation surveys or questionnaires, data licensors, public records, affiliated entities, marketing companies, and other consumers who use our products. We use this information to create our databases and to validate and enrich information in our databases so that we can provide and improve services to users of our products. The terms of this privacy policy do not apply to data used in our databases that we have obtained from third-party sources.

How We Use Data

We use data to provide useful products, services, and customer support to our users. We also use information we collect to communicate with you, to provide you with support, to offer updates to our products and services, and to send you service-related announcements, recommendations, offers from our partners, and other updates or promotions. We also use data to verify information we have received from public and third-party sources, to help us analyze the usage and effectiveness of our products and services, to tailor our content, and to improve our products and services. We may use data to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, to protect our users against fraud and abuse, and to detect, prevent, or otherwise address security or technical issues. We also collect data to comply with any applicable law, regulation, subpoena, or legal process, to cooperate with law enforcement or governmental requests, and to enforce our Terms of Service.

How and Why We Share Data

We share your data as necessary to complete any transaction or to provide any service you have requested or authorized. For example, when you provide payment data to make a purchase, we will share payment data with entities that process payment transactions, and for fraud prevention and credit risk reduction. Besides the consumer users of Global i products and services, we may also provide data to our business users (e.g., corporate fraud departments) so that they may identify and verify their customers or potential customers, or conduct other legitimate business interests.

We may share data with companies working on our behalf, such as trusted vendors we may have hired to provide a particular service. Similarly, we may sometimes share information with third parties we collaborate with in connection with providing or improving our services. We may also share aggregated data, including without limitation aggregated usage data. We may share information that we have obtained from third parties or that you have posted to a public forum. We may disclose and sell data as part of a corporate transaction such as a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, sale of assets, licensing agreement, or other transaction.

We limit access to Social Security numbers and payment data to help protect against their loss or misuse, and we do not disclose Social Security numbers or payment data except with your consent, where such disclosure is required or permitted by law, or, in the case of payment data, where necessary to complete your transactions. We may provide access to non-personally-identifiable information to our Advertising Service Providers (see below) so that they can deliver relevant online and mobile advertising to you. There may also be other limited contexts in which we share specific types of personal information with your express consent.

Finally, we also share data when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with applicable law, to respond to a legal process, such as a subpoena, or to help prevent the loss of life or serious injury of anyone. Under certain circumstances, applicable law may prohibit us from providing or require us to provide you with additional notice regarding the sharing of data. We may, unless legally required to provide you notice, disclose data in response to a subpoena without giving you notice.

How We Protect Your Information

We have implemented commercially reasonable precautions and safeguards intended to protect the confidentiality of information we collect from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Please be aware that despite our best efforts, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security.

You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer or phone, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, and keeping your log-in and password private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.

Advertising Service Providers

Some of our third-party service providers or partners are advertising networks, marketing partners, publishers, and other entities who perform analytics and advertise our products and services on websites not affiliated with us (“Advertising Service Providers”). In connection with these advertising services, we or our Advertising Service Providers may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect behavioral information about how you use our site or other websites in order to perform tracking and marketing analytics or serve advertisements that are more likely to be of interest to you (“Interest-Based Advertisements”). Our Advertising Service Providers may permit you to opt out of all or some Interest-Based Advertisements on designated websites.

Changes in Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without notice to you. In the case of any material changes to the policy, we may send a notice to the primary email address on your account or place a prominent notice on our platform before the change goes into effect. We will also promptly make an updated Privacy Policy publicly available on our platform. Changes will be effective as soon as the revised Privacy Policy is posted unless otherwise stated.

Please be aware, however, that because of our recordkeeping and information retention requirements, we do not delete information about you upon deactivation.
